Police find meth lab in man’s attic after receiving noise complaint

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Police say a man who believed an intruder was in his home was operating a meth lab.

According to Plattsburgh police, Cory Favreau, 37, called 911 for a trespassing complaint.

Officers responded Sunday morning to his home on Champlain Street.

Favreau told police he heard something in his attic and believed there was someone in his house.

Officers checked the home and didn’t find anyone suspicious.

They did, however, find numerous items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine, Chief Levi Ritter said.

Due to the hazardous chemicals found, three residents had to be evacuated.

After obtaining a search warrant, the police narcotics unit and New York State Police said they found several items used to make meth.

Favreau was arrested and charged with one count of manufacturing meth and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned Monday morning in Plattsburgh City Court, where he was remanded to the Clinton County Jail.

The scene was cleared by Sunday afternoon.
