Western Illinois University lays off 132 faculty and staff: 'It was a terribly sad experience'

Facing persistent budget problems, Western Illinois University has laid 132 employees.

Among those receiving notices were 29 faculty members, 89 civil service workers, 12 academic service personnel and two administrative employees., university spokeswoman Darcie Shinberger said.
