Retired Elgin police Sgt. Bill Wood pleaded guilty Friday to theft and agreed repay the $34,000 he stole from the Elgin police union.
Under the terms of a plea agreement, a felony theft charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and Wood was sentenced to two years of probation, according to court records....
