Illinois received a commitment from four-star center Kofi Cockburn on Sunday afternoon, according to recruiting web sites.
The commitment brought some much-needed good news to the Illini, who lost 68-66 to Northwestern the same afternoon to fall to 4-11 this season and 0-4 in Big Ten play.
