Dane County DA to say if police cleared for killing workplace shooter

MADISON — A Wisconsin prosecutor will announce whether any police officers will be charged for fatally shooting a software worker who opened fire on his fellow employees in September.

Middleton Police Chief Charles Foulke says Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne will release his findings next Monday, Jan. 7.

Two Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and two Middleton police officers were in a shootout with 43-year-old Anthony Tong inside WTS Paradigm’s Middleton offices. Tong was fatally shot. Three people were seriously wounded in the attack but survived.

All four law officers have been on paid leave while the state Division of Criminal Investigation investigates. Under Wisconsin law, outside investigations are required for all officer-involved shootings.

Foulke tells the Wisconsin State Journal all four officers were interviewed by DCI investigators.
